Casting Technology: Focus - Run Out Area

Classroom Training

This one-day training provides a highly comprehensive course in process-technological backgrounds of the continuous casting of flat products (slabs) with the main focus on cooling of both flat products and equipment as well as an emphasis on lubrication, hydraulic systems and systems control.

A particular focus is on the influence of process parameters on strand guide segments, horizontal guide, slab strands, and associated automation systems.

Critical aspects of the temperature-dependent strand mechanics and influencing factors for the quality of the slab as well as machine protection and the associated engineering are explained.

Basic information regarding steel chemistry, steel metallurgy, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics are explained insofar as these are useful, applicable, and required for a better understanding of the technological core processes.
