Abinsk Electric Steel Work, a Russian producer of long products, has signed a contract with Primetals Technologies to modernize the electric arc furnace, ladle furnace and 6-strand continuous billet caster in the company's minimill.

Primetals Technologies has received an order from PAO Severstal, a Russian steel producer, to supply a new twin ladle furnace for its Cherepovets converter steel works. The ladle furnace can treat 375 metric ton charges of liquid steel with a treatment time not more than 45 minutes, and has an annual capacity of 4.8 million metric tons.

Brazilian steel producer Gerdau has issued the Final Acceptance Certificate (FAC) for a new Steckel mill supplied by Primetals Technologies for its Ouro Branco production site in the state of Minas Gerais.
