- Industry 4.0 solution to reduce downtime and enhance production efficiency
- New Arvedi ESP line to set a benchmark for China’s steel industry
- First coil scheduled for the first quarter of 2027
On December 16, 2025, Shanxi Jingang New Materials Technology and Primetals Technologies signed an agreement for an advanced digitalization solution tailored to Shanxi Jingang’s new Arvedi ESP line at its facility in Jincheng, Shanxi province.
Boosting Production Efficiency
The solution features Through-Process Quality Control (TPQC), Asset Life Expert (ALEX), and the ESP Scheduler. These systems work together to deliver precise quality monitoring, predictive maintenance, and flexible production scheduling—helping to increase reliability, minimize downtime, and improve overall efficiency. By leveraging advanced analytics and centralized control, the ESP Industry 4.0 solution will enable Jingang to achieve higher productivity and consistently high-quality results.
“With the support of strong partners like Primetals Technologies, we are committed to developing high-end products, efficient management, intelligent control, and green production, while driving transformation and upgrading,” said Li Qiang, Chairman of Shanxi Jingang New Materials Technology. “The ESP production line is central to our transformation, reflecting our pursuit of efficiency, premium products, and comprehensive digitalization.”
Optimized Production Management
The ALEX solution provides real-time asset monitoring and recommendations for service, maintenance, and operation, while TPQC offers continuous visibility into product quality and actionable insights throughout steel production, guiding operators and inspectors in addressing defects and corrective actions. The ESP Scheduler streamlines production management by generating detailed schedules for the ESP line based on production orders from higher-level systems.
“This digitalization solution will help Shanxi Jingang realize its high-end product strategy on the Arvedi ESP line. We are committed to making this project a benchmark for China’s steel industry and look forward to further collaboration with Shanxi Jingang in advancing green, intelligent, and premium product development,” said Tomislav Koledic, CEO of Primetals Technologies China.
Arvedi ESP – Efficient eHRC Production
In September 2025, Shanxi Jingang New Materials Technology signed a contract with Primetals Technologies to build an Arvedi ESP line capable of fully endless operation, producing endless hot-rolled coil (eHRC) with thicknesses from 0.7 to 12.7 millimeters. This project marks a significant advancement in Arvedi ESP technology, integrating innovative features to support a wide range of steel grades, including electrical steel, deep-drawing steel, and hot-forming steel. The first coil is planned for the first quarter of 2027.
Arvedi ESP technology, powered by renewable energy and resulting in zero CO2 emissions, is the only officially certified solution for carbon-neutral thin-slab casting and rolling. It is also the most energy-efficient process for producing high-quality eHRC.
