"The Steel Technology Review - Hy4Smelt Project"

The Hy4Smelt demonstration project in Linz is exploring a new pathway to significantly reduce emissions from ironmaking by combining hydrogen-based technologies with an electrified smelting process. In this project showcase, Primetals Technologies will provide an update on the Hy4Smelt project, explain how the technology works, and discuss what the demonstration plant is designed to prove.

The presentation will also examine the potential role of Hy4Smelt in future low-emission steelmaking, including its approach to raw material and energy requirements, the challenges involved in scaling the technology, and how it could contribute to the decarbonization of European steel production.
