Primetals Technologies provides end-to-end design, engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, certification, and fleet management services for under-the-hook lifters. New lifters can be supplied, or thorough evaluations can be conducted to refurbish used lifters from any manufacturer. Backed by decades of experience, innovative designs, and advanced engineering, our lifters are tailored to meet specific operational needs. Our product range includes automatic units, motor-operated lifters, and C-hooks designed to handle coils, slabs, small rings and forgings, and more — all engineered for safe, efficient material handling.

Lifter Types

Automatic Units

Single, double, and multiple load lifting units are capable of lifting in both horizontal and vertical axes, and can carry balanced or unbalanced loads. All automatic units are equipped with a squeeze-type grip generated by the mechanical advantage of the lever and link assemblies, as well as an integral auto-latching mechanism.

Motor-Operated Units

These units operate with an electric motor or gear drive assembly. The lifter is electronically controlled through its opening and closing cycles, either by a crane, the floor, or by radio. Numerous safety features are built in, including mechanical stops and torque limiters to protect the motor and reducer.

C-Hooks

The most popular lifter in the industry is fabricated from high-tensile alloy steels for long-lasting performance. They are counterbalanced to remain level under varying loads when appropriately used. Available in single, double, and multiple load-carrying units to handle coils, sleeves, rolled wire bundles, billets, and pallets.

Maintenance, Repair, and Replacement

In addition to providing new material handling equipment, Primetals Technologies also offers complete maintenance, repair, and replacement services, including:

Fleet Management and Inspections

Primetals Technologies can conduct periodic inspections based on required safety standards to keep your equipment operating in peak condition and compliant with government safety regulations. Inspections are documented to provide the following benefits:

• Documented inventory of all lifting devices in each specified area
• Picture of the device for reference on each detail page
• Predefined condition code assigned to each lifting device
• Detailed information for each device with areas of concern
