In the horizontal system, coil movement begins at the two-arm mandrel during the coil reforming process. From there, the coil transitions to the coil transfer car and then to the C-hook. It proceeds through inspection and trimming as it cools, subsequently entering the horizontal compactor, where it is weighed and unloaded. For greater flexibility in coil processing, the system can incorporate stations for loading unbound, loose, or damaged coils. These stations utilize a hook unit operating on a carriage to pick up the coil, which is then shifted and rotated for transfer either to a horizontal hook system or onto a stem positioned on a downender. From there, the coil continues on a pallet system to the compactor.

Vertical stem pallets are equipped with a base and a vertical central stem to support the coil fully during handling.
