Pioneers Talk #13: Leaping Toward Green Ironmaking

What is green ironmaking, and what are the technologies that will get us there? In this session of Pioneers Talk, Gerald Wimmer and Tom Widter discuss a new and groundbreaking project that points to the future of sustainable steel production. On December 19, 2022, Primetals Technologies, together with partners voestalpine and Fortescue, took the first step toward building an industrial-scale plant for green ironmaking that will include the revolutionary HYFOR technology and the newly developed Smelter. The partnership will cover everything from raw-material procurement to the final link of the ironmaking production chain.
