Chinese steel producer starts up combined billet and beam-blank caster supplied by Primetals Technologies
Chinese steel producer Maanshan Iron and Steel, also known as Masteel, recently started up a 6-strand combined billet and beam-blank caster supplied by Primetals Technologies at its steel plant in Maanshan, Anhui province, China. The project included a complete casting machine and lasted just 13 and a half months from the kick-off meeting until the first cast.

Modernized processing line started up at German tinplate producer
Primetals Technologies has started up a modernized slitting line at thyssenkrupp Rasselstein’s steel plant in Andernach, Germany. Several aspects were important to thyssenkrupp Rasselstein when choosing Primetals Technologies as the supplier. Thanks to a standardized and adaptable automation solution, the shutdown period was minimized, and full production was ensured just three days after startup.

Remarkable performance figures from Primetals Technologies’ electric steelmaking plants in China
In 2018, Guilin Pinggang became the first Chinese steel producer to order an EAF Quantum electric arc furnace from Primetals Technologies. Soon thereafter, steel producer Wuzhou Yongda placed another Chinese EAF Quantum order. Together with Primetals Technologies, Guilin Pinggang and Wuzhou Yongda now reveal the outstanding performance figures for these two electric steelmaking plants.

ArcelorMittal orders blast furnace copper staves for steel plants in Bremen and Gent
ArcelorMittal has ordered new copper staves from Primetals Technologies for its steel plants in Bremen and Gent. The Gent copper staves feature Primetals Technologies’ well-proven anti-bending solution. The technology prevents stave corner bending caused by thermal effects and stave bending in the area of pipe connections.
