Real endless strip production: what the future holds

Arvedi ESP is the first endless casting and rolling process ever to produce from ultra-thin to thick products on an industrial scale. A wide variety of final products are now produced directly from ESP hot band with fewer cold rolling steps or even without implementing a cold rolling process at all. Energy consumption and related CO2 emissions are drastically reduced on the one hand by the compact layout of ESP lines as well as by omitting subsequent cold rolling steps.

ESP is implemented in EAF and BOF plants and produces steel grades from low-carbon to advanced high-strength steels. Details of successful endless strip production as well as new features under development for currently running projects will be presented.

Target audience:

  • Technology departments
  • Strategic planning or controlling departments
  • Management
  • Operation decision makers
  • Investment department
  • Plant Managers
  • Universities

Key takeaways:

  • Ways of implementation, looking at various production routes
  • New ESP achievements
  • Special features for different product groups
  • How to gain high profits by producing for direct application products
  • Lowering CO2 emissions, energy consumption and operation costs
