Optimize Hot Strip Mill Operations with Power Work Roll Cooling
The Power Work Roll Cooling System is engineered to overcome critical challenges in hot rolling and Arvedi ESP production. By reducing the cooling water pressure, this system dramatically decreases the energy required for water supply. Its advanced design ensures optimal control of the water crown, allowing for precise control of the work roll surface temperature and thereby enhancing efficiency and performance.
The Power Work Roll Cooling system features a patented design and technology for its cooling header. It uses low-pressure direct cooling water, at 3 bar at the nozzle, which can save up to 70% of the energy typically required in conventional work roll cooling in hot strip mills and Arvedi ESP. The system employs solid jet nozzles, ensuring perfect impingement of the water jet on the roll surface and achieving high heat transfer coefficients. The header is equipped with three separate chambers, allowing for dynamic work roll cooling in hot strip mills and Arvedi ESP. This setup optimizes the water crown, minimizing water usage while enhancing the cooling effect on the work roll barrel.
Power Work Roll Cooling Benefits
- Reduced wear: achieve less roll wear through reduced thermal loading
- Energy saving: lower pressure at basically the same flow as in conventional rolling saves up to 70% of energy
- Improved strip profile and flatness: homogeneous and perfectly controllable water crown
- Efficient maintenance: enabled due to header design and in-house developed solid jet nozzles
