The Morgan Reducing and Sizing Mill offers a wide variety of benefits for wire rod producers: it can be integrated after a conventional finishing block, boosting mill productivity on small sizes by up to 60%. Its extreme precision and combination of advanced technologies lend themselves to thermomechanical rolling, which results in a more refined microstructure that can reduce or even eliminate costly downstream annealing processes.

The capacity to roll sizes from 4.0 mm up to 30.0 mm, combined with the capability for free-size rolling, ensures excellent size tolerance and ovality throughout the coil, from coil to coil and heat to heat. The Morgan Reducing and Sizing Mill can produce all rod sizes to ultra-precise tolerances as low as +/- 0.1 mm. The oval-round-round-round roll pass sequence delivers high-reduction rolling for normalized and thermomechanical processing, enhancing surface quality and extending roll life. The combination of pass design and multiple gear ratios in the external gear drive allows for multiple products to be produced from a single feed, greatly reducing product change times throughout the mill as well as minimizing roll inventory and roll shop costs.

High dimensional accuracy of rolled products is further enhanced by the Morgan Reducing and Sizing Mill's ability to achieve this at speeds of up to 120 m/s on 5.5 mm rod. This results in the highest production rates possible in the industry. The ultra-heavy-duty roll housings exceptionally handle high separating forces. With a capacity of more than 470 kN, the roll units can handle production of hard-to-roll alloys and thermomechanical rolling of carbon and low alloy steels, ensuring the ability to make products with better mechanical and metallurgical properties.
