The furnace will be equipped with a new electrode control system, the Foaming Slag Manager and a refined combined burner (RCB) system. These measures are intended to reduce the electricity and electrode consumption of the electric arc furnace.
Acroni, d.o.o., a Slovenian steel producer belonging to the Slovenian Steel Group (SIJ), has awarded Primetals Technologies an order to supply a new 95 metric ton AOD converter and dedusting system to its steel works in Jesenice.

The project encompasses a complete mechanical, electrical and automation solution from liquid steel quality improvement to finished coil, and includes the installation of a new vacuum degasser as well as the modernization of the existing slab caster, and the plate and Steckel mill.
Acciaierie Venete S.p.A. has issued the Final Acceptance Certificate (FAC) for a blooming mill extensively modernized by Primetals Technologies at its Camin, Italy location. Within the scope of this project, a new blooming stand including ancillary system was installed and integrated into the existing line. The production capacity is up to 110 metric tons per hour. The main aim of the project was to improve the quality of blooms with the option of entirely or partly dispensing with downstream processing steps. The project was handled on a turnkey basis, and its value was in the low double-digit millions Euro range.
Since early 2015, the continuous caster of Slovenian steelmaker Acroni, d.o.o. (member of SIJ – Slovenian Steel Group) that was modernized by Primetals Technologies also produces X120Mn12 wear resistant grade. This is due to the optimized interplay of the technology packages, machine head and strand guide system supplied by Primetals Technologies, which ensure the required high internal and surface quality of slabs.
Turkish steel producer Kroman Çelìk Sanayìì A.Ş. has contracted with Primetals Technologies to apply advanced technology to a wire rod outlet built in 2008 to expand its product line with high carbon wire rod. Signed last year, the contract calls for 13-month delivery of equipment, with erection and commissioning expected to be completed by the end of this summer.
Chinese producer Baosteel Zhanjiang Iron & Steel Co. Ltd. has ordered a new Mulpic (Multi-Purpose Interrupted Cooling) system from Primetals Technologies. The intensive cooling system will be installed in the company's existing plate rolling mill which is currently being re-located from Shanghai to Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province, and is scheduled to be operational in March 2016. The Mulpic system facilitates higher cooling rates and accurate cooling control, resulting in plates with uniform metallurgical properties and reduced flatness defects.
The new combined primary and secondary dedusting system from Primetals Technologies has been in full operation at Buderus Edelstahl GmbH in Wetzlar, Germany since February 2015. Following the original acceptance test in the fall of 2014, the system is now also cleaning the off-gases from two new ingot casting plants.
