Optimized Measurement for Increased Safety at LD Converter
The VAICON Measuring Manipulator is a cutting-edge measurement device for LD converters, installed to provide fast and reproducible measurement of temperature, carbon, and oxygen, as well as sampling of steel and slag without safety risks for the operator when working in front of the tilted converter. Optimized measurement for increased safety at the LD converter is a key feature of this innovative device.
The VAICON Measuring Manipulator enhances worker safety by replacing the manual hand lance for measurement at the tilted converter. This measurement device for LD converters standardizes the measurement and sampling process, ensuring consistent, reliable, and fast results. Mounted on a converter dog house door, it moves with the door when it opens. In its parking position, the manipulator is tilted towards the doghouse, parking parallel to it, requiring minimal space and leaving the full platform free for operations and material manipulation. The measuring manipulator allows fast and 100% optimized and repeatable measurement, completely independent of any human influence. This ensures high-quality and reliable measurements within 20 seconds for a normal, single measurement. The operator only needs to handle the probes and is not required to operate in front of the hot converter mouth with a manual measurement lance, significantly improving the safety situation for the operator. It offers a robust and straightforward solution that can be installed on a doghouse or a separate car, providing fast, repeatable measurements and eliminating safety-critical tasks for operators. Besides, it enables double measurements and slag sampling, further improving efficiency and accuracy.
