Strip welding by Laser or Mash Lap
Primetals Technologies is proud to introduce into the market the most advanced laser welder performing welding and cutting using asolid laser source, dedicated to ultra high strength steels. This welding machine, called LW21L, is mainly targetting organic coating lines. It provides a very high performance level for a wide range of grades including the high-end ultra high-strength steels. Easy and low maintenance thanks to beam transmission via fiber optic cable making the troublesoom mirror reflected transmission are past history. Repeatable and constant cutting performance and high level of availability are achieved thanks to the choice of laser cutting. The other advantage of the latter is the compactness of the machine which enables an easy installation in existing lines with minimum field work. For organic coating lines, Primetals Technologies also offers the state of the art MashLap welding machine ranging from 0.1 to 5.0 mm.
Our coaters include all technological aspects, including mechanical, fluid, electrical and automation functions. This modular approach offers great benefits, and allows us to provide completely integrated solutions consisting of extensively preconfigured products, solutions and cycle services specifically tailored. The main benefits of our coaters are: less vibrations due to short universal joints, less applicator covering wear due to load control, quick roll change, reduction of coating consumption, tightest thickness tolerances by dynamic force control and quality improvement due to computer controlled coater presetting.
Tension leveling stands include several six-high leveling cluster assemblies on which the strip is subjected to elasto-plastic deformation under controlled elongation in order to stretch the strip’s longitudinal structures to equal length and to eliminate residual crossbow and coilset. Tension leveler entry and exit tension bridles can be driven with different systems depending on the application. It is often desirable to combine the skin-pass and tension leveler with an intermediate tension bridle in a versatile system. This facilitates the production of different types of high-quality strip.
The perfect tool to guarantee you a defect-free surface condition of the processed steel strip. SIAS will detect and identify critical defects, for deep-drawing applications such as fine slivers, holes or scratches, as well as coating defects. The tiniest defects such as arc spots, may be detected even at maximum speed. SIAS ensures high resolution inspection of painted surface at the line exit. Thanks to the system of built-in flexibility, it can be easily tuned to adapt automatically to the widest range of product colors and aspects. Thanks to automatic classification, possible origin of defects (roll coat, oven, dryer or gloss film application) is rapidly identified.
The TCOptimizer offers the means to secure the production by keeping an eye on all the signals of the whole metallurgical route (from casting to downstream process) and triggering just-in-time alarms against performance degradation regarding equipment conditions, process and product quality. It enables an automatic process follow up, a direct product quality estimation thanks to embedded metallurgical models and just in time alarms for immediate actions to reach final quality requirements.
