Primetals Technologies replaces level 2 system in the newest continuous slab caster CC8 of voestalpine Stahl GmbH
Since February 2019, a new level 2 process automation system from Primetals Technologies has been in successful operation on the CC8 continuous slab caster in the Linz plant of the Austrian steel producer, voestalpine Stahl GmbH. It replaces an existing system on the casting plant supplied by a third-party in 2018. All the continuous casters in the Linz plant of voestalpine Stahl GmbH now feature the same version of the level 2 system from Primetals Technologies.

Primetals Technologies to supply EAF Quantum electric arc furnace and ladle furnace to Wuzhou Yongda
Primetals Technologies has received an order from Chinese steelmaker Wuzhou Yongda Special Steel Co., Ltd. (Wuzhou Yongda) to supply an EAF Quantum electric arc furnace and a ladle furnace for a greenfield project in Wuzhou city, in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. This marks the tenth EAF Quantum for China. The EAF Quantum furnace is designed to handle scrap steel of very varied composition and quality.

Meros off-gas cleaning systems supplied by Primetals Technologies started-up at Kardemir
In December 2018, a Meros off-gas cleaning plant supplied by Primetals Technologies was started up at sinter plant No. 3 of Turkish steel producer Karabük Demir Celik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. (Kardemir), followed by the Meros plants supplied for Kardemir´s sinter plants No. 1 early February and No. 2 in in early March. Each Meros plant is able to treat 400,000 Nm³/h of sinter off-gas, reducing SOx by more than 90% as well as delivering extremely low dust emissions.

Tata Steel restarts blast furnace revamped by Primetals Technologies at Port Talbot in Wales
In late January, a blast furnace revamped by Primetals Technologies was relit at Tata Steel Europe´s steelworks in Port Talbot in South Wales, United Kingdom. The aim of this major investment project was to extend the useful life of Blast Furnace 5 and thus strengthen the position of Britain´s biggest steelworks. Primetals Technologies won the contract to execute the work and was responsible for engineering, planning, equipment and material supply, demolition and erection - all to be executed during an ambitious shutdown stoppage in late 2018.

Continuous billet caster revamped by Primetals Technologies started up at Feralpi Siderurgica in Italy
Recently, a six-strand billet caster revamped by Primetals Technologies was started up in the Lonato del Garda works of Feralpi Siderurgica S.p.A., part of the Italian Feralpi Group. The aims of the project were to increase production capacity from 1.1 to 1.2 million metric tons of billets per year, to produce billets with a larger square cross section of 150 x 150 millimeters with predisposition for cross section of 160 x 160, millimeters, and to improve plant availability.
