AISTech 2024– Ohio, U.S.A.

May 6-8, 2024

Our presence at AISTech 2024 was a highlight, attracting numerous visitors to our booth and broadening our network. Addtionally, the technical paper titled "Improving Blast Furnace Efficiency and Reducing Carbon Emissions with Blast Furnace Oxygen Pulsing Technology," authored by William Edmond, along with other contributors, has secured second place in the 2024 Hunt-Kelly Outstanding Paper Award (AIME).

Rolling Mill Symposium 2024– Monterrey, Mexio

This spring, Mexico was the venue for the Rolling Mill Symposium 2024, uniting over 50 clients from 9 different plants across the country. The event highlighted pioneering solutions and services from four entities, showcasing the latest technological innovations in the industry. Primetals Technologies Technology Day at customer Hoa Phat – Dung Quat, Vietnam

March 13-14, 2024

Primetals Technologies recently engaged with representatives from Hoa Phat to showcase their portfolio, with a specific focus on Green Steel Production strategies in response to Hoa Phat's interest. Hoa Phat's future market direction, particularly targeting Europe, emphasizes their commitment to green steel technology. Primetals presented a comprehensive range of topics, including green steel transformation strategies and metallurgical services. The discussions were positively received by Hoa Phat's management, Mr. Ha and Mrs. Linh, who expressed satisfaction with the collaboration experienced during previous projects.

2nd Green Steel Summit – Düsseldorf, Germany

March 13-14, 2024

The second Green Steel Summit saw a diverse array of participants, ranging from steel producers to energy providers, showcasing a collective dedication to sustainable steel production. Discussions encompassed crucial topics such as the necessity of digitalization considering impending labor shortages, the economic viability of green routes versus traditional integrated routes, and the implications of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) for the green sector. Primetals Technologies, represented by Dr. Alexander Fleischanderl, Senior Vice President and Head of Green Steel, and Dr. Gerald Wimmer, Vice President, Converter Steelmaking, reiterated their commitment to fostering innovation and sustainability within the steel industry.

6th India International DRI Summit 2024 – New Delhi, India

March 11, 2024

The 6th India International Direct Reduced Iron Summit 2024, organized by the Sponge Iron Manufacturers Association of India and supported by the Ministry of Steel, Government of India, gathered key stakeholders from various sectors, including experts from the steel industry and government bodies like the Ministry of Steel and NITI Aayog. Primetals Technologies' Biswadeep Bhattacharjee participated as a panelist, providing insights on the Emergence of Green Steel during the session on "Technical Advances in Gas Based DRI and DRI Based Steel Production".

International Conference on Mining and Benefication 2024 – Jamshedpur, India

February 1-2, 2024

Bringing together key industry and research leaders from India and abroad, the event, hosted by TATA Steel, delved into the future of mining and ore processing, with a particular focus on iron ore and coal. With India's ambitious target of reaching 300 MTPA steel production by 2030, discussions centered on increasing productivity through modern beneficiation processes. Our presentations, including Lukas Petzold's "Comparing Iron Ore Slime Benefication with Ore of Brazil and India" and Dr. Florian Penz's “Circular Pelletizing Technology: A proven compact pelletizing plant technology for green steel transition”, demonstrated our commitment to innovative solutions for the mining and steel industries.

Breakthrough Technology Conference 2023 – Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.

December 5-7, 2023

The recent event organized by the World Steel Association saw the active participation of steel plant manufacturers, with approximately 200 global representatives in attendance. Dr. Alexander Fleischanderl, Head of Green Steel, delivered a keynote speech on the "Three Phases to Green Steel" concept, contributing to discussions on strategic pathways for transition technologies in a panel discussion. Our booth, acting as a central meeting point, showcased our innovative approach to achieving CO2-neutral iron and steel production, emphasizing the concept of the "Optimization - Transition - Achieving Green Steel cycle".

Technology Day 2023 – Ranchi, India

November 21, 2023

The event, uniting over 110 delegates from SAIL, proved a triumph in knowledge exchange and collaboration for the steel giant's expansion plans. Thirteen Executive Directors inaugurated the event, complemented by a virtual address from SAIL Chairman Mr. Amarendu Prakash. Global technology experts delved into topics from sustainability to Industry 4.0, underscoring a comprehensive approach to innovation. Beyond presentations, the day facilitated valuable networking opportunities, reinforcing the spirit of collaboration in the steel industry.

MEIS 2023 – Dubai, U.A.E.

November 20-22, 2023

The 26th Middle East Iron and Steel Conference 2023, the established leading annual gathering for the iron and steel industry in the MENA region, attracted more than 1,000 visitors this year. Our booth played a central role as a networking hub, facilitating meaningful connections with both existing customers and prospective clients. Dr. Alexander Fleischanderl, Head of Green Steel, contributed to the panel discussion on "DRI Production in the Context of Steel Decarbonization – Gulf Countries as Net Exporters?" while Wolfgang Sterrer, Vice President of Direct Reduction, delivered a speech on "Shaping the Future of Direct Reduction and Green Ironmaking."

At the Alacero Summit 2023, Kurt Herzog, Head of Industry 4.0, contributed insights to the panel on "Technologies and Digitalization: Creating the Steel of the Future within Our Value Chain." ISA Steel Conclave – New Delhi, India

November 7-8, 2023

The 4th iteration of the Indian Steel Association (ISA) Steel Conclave garnered support from the Ministry of Steel, Government of India, and the World Steel Association. The focal point of this year's proceedings centered on the theme "Steel - Shaping the Sustainable Future." The conclave witnessed the active participation of over 250 delegates from the Iron & Steel and allied industries. Among the contributors was Biswadeep Bhattacharjee, Vice President of Sales and Head of Green Steel India, who played a pivotal role in the panel discussion addressing "Capital Goods Suppliers Involved in Green Technology".

Symposium on Green Steel with Electrical Steelmaking & ERT – Fuding, China

October 19-20, 2023

The Symposium on Green Steel with Electrical Steelmaking and Endless Rolling Technology, organized by Primetals Technologies and co-organized by the Chinese Society for Metals, successfully took place in Fuding on Oct. 19-20. The event featured discussions on the development of electric steelmaking, thin-slab casting and rolling technologies, and showcased innovative solutions for achieving green and sustainable steel production. Participants included industry leaders, experts, and representatives from steel companies, emphasizing the collective commitment to advancing environmentally friendly practices in the steel industry.

STEEL TECH Seminar – Kolkata, India

October 16, 2023

STEEL TECH organized a seminar in Kolkata, India, focused on "Strategies for Sustainable Growth and Profit Maximization for Steel Plants." Approximately 100 delegates from the iron and steel industry, academic institutes, R&D labs, and bureaucrats attended. Our representatives participated in a panel discussion on the future readiness of the steel industry, and presented a paper on "endless Hot Rolled Coils (eHRC) from Arvedi ESP".

The 12th China International Steel Conference – Shanghai, China

October 14-15, 2023

The steel congress in Shanghai featured discussions on green steel and sustainability in the global metals industry. CEO Satoru Iijima and Tomislav Koledic, Head of Primetals Technologies China, discussed approaches to green steel, CO2 emissions, decarbonization, automation, and sustainable metals production.The event was visited by almost 500 participants from the World Steel Association and from Chinese and International companies.

AIST European Steel Forum – Leoben, Austria

October 17-19, 2023

The event sponsered by the Assciation for Iron and Steel Technology (AIST) brought together around 200 attendees, with a majority originating from Europe, and others joining from all over the world to discuss technology adoption, sustainability, and workforce development. The conference put a spotlight on carbon-neutral steelmaking, energy optimization, digitalization, and innovative plant design, facilitating candid conversations about industry challenges and forward-thinking workforce strategies, such as digital innovation within the iron and steel sector. Head of Green Steel, Dr. Alexander Fleischanderl, and Vice President of Converter Steelmaking, Gerald Wimmer, participated in panels to represent ours efforts in reforming the steel industry.

The 5th Symposium on Iron Ore Pelletizing and its Sustainable Development – Quebec, Canada

September 24-27, 2023

The 5th Corem Symposium was visited by more than 280 specialists from over 21 countries in the mining and pelletizing sector. During the event, our process specialist Hans-Jörg Baumgartner delivered a presentation on "Evaluation, simulation & testing of pellet-based steel production routes in the light of transformation of the iron industry" which received significant attention from the audience. In addition to the presentation, the booth served as a central hub for engaging discussions with our valued customers and industry partners.

Conference on Technology, Market & Applications for Long Products – Kolkata, India

Around 150 delegates from the Ministry of Steel, Iron and Steel industry, relevant academic institutes and R&D labs participated in the conference on “Technology, Market & Applications for Long Products” organized in Taj Vivanta, Kolkata to exchange opinions. Multiple highly interesting presentations were held among them the unveiling of our papers on “Hybrid Fine Grain Rolling” and “High-Speed Rebar Mill” which were also very well received by the audience.

ABM Week 2023 – São Paulo, Brazil

August 1-3, 2023

This year's Brazilian Association of Metallurgy, Materials and Mining (ABM) Week marked a historic milestone with over 2500 participants, including industry executives, professionals, students, researchers, and experts coming together to exchange valuable information about the steel industry. This event stands as the foremost technical and scientific gathering in Latin America dedicated to metallurgy, materials, and mining. Throughout the conference, visitors witnessed the delivery of more than 570 presentations, facilitating valuable technological exchange and promoting industrial development.

Aluminium China 2023 – Shanghai, China

July 5-7, 2023

With over 26,000 visitors from 70 different countries, this outstanding event in Shanghai brought together the global aluminium industry. The key message of the event, "Pioneers in Aluminium Rolling Technologies," resonated throughout the exhibition and presentations. Aluminium China 2023 was a remarkable event, where we had the privilege of showcasing our expertise in aluminium hot mills, aluminium cold mills, and aluminium foil mills through engaging presentations and films.

Global Steel Dynamics Forum – New York, U.S.A.

June 26-28, 2023

World Steel Dynamics and the AIST - Association for Iron & Steel Technology have partnered to present the Global Steel Dynamics Forum. This event was dedicated to industry dynamics, critical insights, and essential strategic outlooks. In a panel entitled "Steel plant concepts for 2030 and beyond," our global Chief Strategy Officer, Aashish Gupta, delivered a presentation and participated in a moderated question and answer session. The discussion covered several topics, including the transition to Green Steel, the role of EAF production in reducing carbon emissions and smelting technology.

METEC & ESTAD 2023 – Düsseldorf, Germany

June 12-26, 2023

After four long years, Primetals Technologies returned to Düsseldorf at METEC 2023 and the 6th ESTAD. At METEC 2023, the focus remained on four key topics: Green Steel, Automation and Digital Plants, Asset Optimization, and Strategic Development. At METEC, visitors could experience our technologies in a unique 3D Showroom, get hands-on with experts in the Orange Lab, featuring the Central Operations Cockpit, and hear discussions with industry leaders and experts at the Green Lounge. Meanwhile, at ESTAD,  Dr. Alexander Fleischanderl, Head of Green Steel, spoke in a keynote address about "Climate Neutral Steelmaking." After that, specialists from Primetals Technologies presented no fewer than 46 papers on the latest technological innovations and solutions redefining the metals industry.

SEAISI 2023 – Manila, Philippines

May 22-25, 2023

This year the South East Asia Iron and Steel Institute (SEAISI) held their informative conference in Manila, Philippines. Around 500 experts from 24 countries attended this meeting to participate in knowledge exchange and expand their networks. More than 70 presentations were discussing the newest trends and developments in the steel industry. At our booth, information and news were shared and potential future projects were discussed with interested visitors.

AISTech 2023 – Detroit, U.S.A.

May 8-10, 2023

This thrilling event brought together over 7000 attendees who were eager to witness multiple technical presentations presented by Primetals Technologies. The exhibits at the Primetals Technologies booth featured cutting-edge technologies such as TPQC and ALEX for quality control and automation, m.space and MAT for optimized material tracking, and the Digital Caliper for precise measurements. However, the highlight of the event was the Arvedi ESP 3-D printed model and simulator, providing an immersive experience of this revolutionary process.

International Iron Ore Conference 2023 – Stockholm, Sweden

May 3-5, 2023

The event took place in Stockholm and has brought together iron ore miners, pellet producers, consumers, as well as trading companies to discuss the greening of the steel industry and meet prospective customers. In total there were 120-150 participants, including Mr. Bernhard Hiebl, Head of Technology Benefication, Agglomeration and Direct Reduction, participated in the panel discussion “Iron Ore pellets: A Route to Decarbonization”.

European Green Steel Summit 2023 – Frankfurt, Germany

March 22-23, 2023

"How to Build a Holistic Green Steel Industry" was the discussion topic that brought together 300 participants covering the whole range of the steel value chain on the European Green Steel Summit 2023. The Head of Green Steel and CTO Upstream, Alexander Fleischanderl, presented our company in the panel to discuss how to use emerging technologies of Green Steel. The increasing demand for green steelmaking has highlighted the importance of adapting low-carbon steel production routes to stay ahead of the game.

Tata Steel Environment Management 7th International Annual Meet +EMPACT – Kolkata, India

March 16, 2023

The theme for this year's meet was "Rise to Resilience". In this event, government research institutes and the council related to energy, environment and climate resilience as well as technology and equipment suppliers presented some highly interesting papers. On invitation from Tata Steel, Biswadeep Bhattacharjee, Vice President Sales & Head of Green Steel India represented Primetals Technologies and showed Green Solutions for decarbonising steel and iron ore agglomeration.

Digital Transformation Forum for the Steel Industry 2023 – Pittsburgh, U.S.A.

March 7–8, 2023

Organized by the Digitalization Applications Technology Committee of the Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST), this conference attracted more than 130 experts to discuss the steel industry’s digital transformation journey. Anil Kanagala served as a Session Chair and represented our company during the Expert Panel Discussion. The panel addressed the current state of technology underlying the digital transformation of the steel industry as well as the digital transformations governance and organizational change management. The panelists also emphasized that the future includes OEMs playing an important role as the steel industry evolves in a more digital direction.

International Conference on Sintering & Pelletizing 2023 – Jamshedpur, India

January 18-19, 2023

Around 230 delegates from the Iron & Steel Industry, relevant academic institutes and R&D lab participated in the conference that was organized by Tata Steel in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Metals - Jamshedpur Chapter, and the Pellet Manufacturers Association of India. Several theses were presented on Sintering and Pelletizing during the 2 days of the event, among them our paper on “Enhanced Sinter raw mix and Product control combined with solid fuel and Emission Freight reduction”.

MEIS 2022 – Dubai, U.A.E.

December 12-14, 2022

More than 900 visitors attended the annual Middle East Iron & Steel (MEIS) Conference 2022 in Dubai. MEIS is the largest annual meeting of the iron and steel industry in the MENA region. With three days of unbeatable content – delivered by senior and respected regional executives – covering raw materials dynamics, iron and steel production fundamentals, and consumption drivers in the Middle East and North African countries. Dr. Alexander Fleischanderl, Head of Green Steel at Primetals Technologies, took part in the panel discussion about "Steel technology Innovation" and did a presentation on "The steel industry and climate change".

Technology Day on Green Steel – Jamshedpur, India

December 9, 2022

In cooperation with Tata Steel, the "Technology Day on Green Steel" took place on December 9, 2022 in Jamshedpur, India. Over 40 delegates including Senior Management participated in the day-long session. The morning was all about the global situation, trends, pathways and roadblocks for the Green Steel transformation. In the afternoon different approaches were discussed on the case specific scenario for transforming integrated plants like the Tata Steel Jamshedpur.

Seminar 'Green Steelmaking' – Kolkata, India

October 21, 2022

Around 120 delegates from Iron & Steel Industry, relevant academic institutes, and labs participated in the seminar to exchange their view on the focus topic of the event Sustainable Technology for Indian Steel Industry & Sourcing of Steel Plant Equipment in India. Various papers were presented in different sessions – such as Adopting latest technologies to remain cost competitive & sustainable. 
It was a pleasure to participate in this highly engaging convention. Thank you to the organizer Steel Tech for making this possible.

Aluminium 2022 – Duesseldorf, Germany

September 27-29, 2022

After a four-year break, we returned to Duesseldorf and the World’s leading Aluminum trade fair Aluminium 2022. Despite some travel restrictions still being in place the show exceeded many expectations and was exceptionally well attended with over 20,000 trade visitors from 100 nations. The demonstration rig of the Air Bearing ShapeMeter (ABSM) connected to a Primetals Technologies Technical Control System (TCS), as well as the presentation of the full-scale Edgewipe display unit were very popular attractions and talking points for visitors. The event was a great opportunity to once again meeting customers face-to-face. It was a pleasure to participate and we are looking forward to returning in 2024.


Stainless & Special Steel Conference – Hamburg, Germany

September 20-22, 2022

More than 300 visitors came together in Hamburg to discuss the burning topic of the industry: More sustainable steel. Emerging questions like how to decrease energy consumption with short term measures, how to reduce CO2 emissions with the right scrap composition for EAF premelts, and the recycling of by-products attracted many participants to the panel discussion as well as to the presentation held by Bernhard Voraberger, Head of Technology Steelmaking.

8th ECIC & ICSTI – Bremen, Germany

August 29-September 2, 2022

For the first time, the 8th European Coke and Ironmaking Congress (ECIC) and the 9th International Conference on Science and Technology of Ironmaking (ICSTI) took place together in Bremen, Germany. While highlighting the latest technologies in cokemaking, sintering, pelletizing, and ironmaking, a clear focus on the future of the blast furnace and a transition toward direct reduction emerged with with an emphasis on eco-friendly production in many of the 114 talks. Presentations from Primetals Technologies included a keynote speech from Dr. Alexander Fleischanderl and papers from 7 other experts, covering the hot topics related to ironmaking.

ABM Week 6 edition – São Paulo, Brazil

June 7-9, 2022

After a two-year break, we returned to Latin America’s largest technical and scientific event in the fields of metallurgy, materials, and mining. Our experts engaged in discussions after they held their technical presentations e. g. about product quality at continuous casting using XXL bearing units or a best practice example of equipment and process innovations already incorporated into the new mill design of our Chinese customer YongXing Special Stainless Steel Co. Ltd. Additionally, our innovators Franz Kolmbauer and Bojan Jozic exchanged knowledge and opinions at the round tables. 


Steel Success Strategies 2022 – Miami, Florida, U.S.A.

June 5-7, 2022

More than 300 leaders from across the steel industry participated in the event that features keynote speeches and panel discussions about topics including global steel markets, trade, and raw materials pricing. Like last year, the major theme centered on the efforts of steel producers to transition to zero-carbon production. Primetals Technologies’ Joerg Buttler, Senior Director – Mechanical Business – Upstream US, participated in one of the 2 panels about decarbonization. In a speech titled “Decarbonizing Strategies for the Steel Industry to Meet Net-zero by Mid-century,” Mr. Buttler reviewed steel producer CO2 reduction targets as well as the main considerations for reducing carbon emissions.

EFRS'08 – İzmir, Turkey

May 26-27, 2022

Over 1.800 participants visited the 8th International Iron and Steel Symposium where 4 panel discussions, 7 interactive sessions, 26 oral presentations and 69 poster presentations engaged the visitors to step into conversation. In keeping with the event’s motto “New Horizons”, the main focus was on Green Steel and Digitalization. In the Panel Discussion “Zero Carbon”, where Dr. Alexander Fleischanderl participated, but also in the presentations from Deniz Çatan and Dieter Bettinger, it could be seen that the participation and the degree of people participating from the integrated iron- and steelworks increased significantly compared to previous EFRS symposiums. We want to quote one of our customers when thanking the host for making this great event possible: It was “just awesome”.

AISTech 2022 returned to Pittsburgh more successful than ever. This year 8.068 visitors attended the fair to get to know more about the header topics Decarbonization and Digitalization. At the Primetals Technologies booth, which measured 100ft2, experts from all over the world exchanged knowledge and informed themselves about the latest technology trends such as low-carbon steel production, advanced process optimization, and the digitalization of all production-related processes. Thank you for coming to our booth and enriching this fair with great conversations. We would also like to thank the audience of our 16 presentations, who showed great interest in the different sessions, and the host, the AIST, for enabling to bring back this great event.

PIONEERS TALK “How crafted scrap supports the production of quality steel and reduces CO2” – Live on LinkedIn

May 3, 2022

More than 110 steel experts from Canada to India attended this live-streamed expert interview on LinkedIn. Heiner Guschall, CEO of SICON Germany, and Andreas Melcher, Scrap Yard Automation Expert at Primetals Technologies, shared insights how “crafted scrap” enables the production of high-quality steel and reduces CO2 emissions, how “conventional scrap” can be converted into “crafted scrap”, and how essential the automation of production and logistics processes is in a steel factory. The moderator Christoph Stangl, Marketing Manager EA at Primetals Technologies, handed over questions from the participants to the two speakers. We would like to thank all participants for their interest and their ambitious engagement. This was by far the most successful live-streamed PIONEERS TALK so far – and more will come.
