In 2018, Guilin Pinggang became the first Chinese steel producer to order an EAF Quantum electric arc furnace from Primetals Technologies. Soon thereafter, steel producer Wuzhou Yongda placed another Chinese EAF Quantum order. Together with Primetals Technologies, Guilin Pinggang and Wuzhou Yongda now reveal the outstanding performance figures for these two electric steelmaking plants.

ArcelorMittal has ordered new copper staves from Primetals Technologies for its steel plants in Bremen and Gent. The Gent copper staves feature Primetals Technologies’ well-proven anti-bending solution. The technology prevents stave corner bending caused by thermal effects and stave bending in the area of pipe connections.

In February 2023, Primetals Technologies received the final acceptance certificate (FAC) from the Hämeenlinna steelworks, a part of steel producer SSAB, for a comprehensive upgrade of the main drives for millstand No. 1 at the 4-stand tandem cold rolling mill in Hämeenlinna, Finland. The upgrade secures the supply of spare parts for the millstand drives and increases the availability of the tandem cold rolling mill.

Nucor Steel Berkeley, a sheet mill division of U.S.-based steel producer Nucor Corporation, has placed an order with Primetals Technologies for a new, automotive-grade continuous galvanizing line (CGL). Nucor Steel Berkeley will have one of the most advanced CGLs in the Western Hemisphere.

Chinese steel producer Tangshan Quanfeng has signed a maintenance services contract with Primetals Tangshan Technology Services (PTTS). Over the last three years, PTTS has provided Quanfeng with high-quality offline services for the entire thin-slab caster at its plant located in Tangshan, Hebei province, China. Thanks to the quality of the maintenance work, Quanfeng could achieve higher productivity, develop additional steel grades, and produce steels of higher quality.
