LanzaTech, a leading carbon capture and utilization company, and Primetals Technologies today announce the signing of a renewed ten-year cooperation agreement to accelerate the deployment of integrated environmental solutions for the steel industry worldwide. Through this new 10-year agreement, Primetals Technologies and LanzaTech will enable more projects in the global iron and steel sector to adopt LanzaTech’s carbon recycling technologies. 

London, June 15, 2023

In June 2023, Hydnum Steel and Primetals Technologies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the intention to implement a greenfield plant for green steel production in Puertollano, Spain. Primetals Technologies will supply a minimill for flat products, including an electric steelmaking plant and an Arvedi ESP line, in Phase 1.

On June 12–16, the METEC fair in Düsseldorf, Germany, is returning after four years. A lot has happened in the metals industry since 2019. The transition into green steel production is in full swing, steel producers in Europe have moved into execution mode. Primetals Technologies will hold a press conference at METEC and make a big news announcement.

ArcelorMittal has ordered new copper staves from Primetals Technologies for its steel plants in Bremen and Gent. The Gent copper staves feature Primetals Technologies’ well-proven anti-bending solution. The technology prevents stave corner bending caused by thermal effects and stave bending in the area of pipe connections.

London, April 11, 2023

In February 2023, Primetals Technologies received the final acceptance certificate (FAC) from the Hämeenlinna steelworks, a part of steel producer SSAB, for a comprehensive upgrade of the main drives for millstand No. 1 at the 4-stand tandem cold rolling mill in Hämeenlinna, Finland. The upgrade secures the supply of spare parts for the millstand drives and increases the availability of the tandem cold rolling mill.
