Primetals Technologies has received the final acceptance certificate (FAC) from Outokumpu Stainless USA for the successful upgrade of process optimization systems at its Calvert, Alabama facility. The extensive Level 2 automation system upgrade improves production quality and flexibility.

A Chinese steel producer has tasked Primetals Technologies with the supply and implementation of a 1-strand thick-slab continuous caster upgrade.The project will expand the continuous caster’s thickness range up to 360 millimeters. With the new equipment, the producer will be able to manufacture plates for heavy-gauge high-end applications including the wind turbine sector.

Hoa Phat has signed a contract with Primetals Technologies for the supply and implementation of a long product caster and a rolling line. The new equipment will solidify Hoa Phat’s position as a leading provider for high-quality product markets.

The newly installed equipment includes a 150-ton argon-oxygen decarburization (AOD) converter, a 150-ton ladle furnace, a single-strand continuous caster, and comprehensive automation solutions. With this expansion, JSL’s production capacity will increase by approximately 1 million tons per year. Advanced automation systems contribute to improved product quality and optimized process efficiency.

A new bloom caster will be implemented at a steel producer in Northeastern China to produce high-quality blooms for rail and wire rod production. The caster will feature an extensive automation solution and the largest curved copper tube mold ever supplied by Primetals Technologies.
