Marcegaglia Chooses Primetals Technologies for Stainless Steel Meltshop Upgrade in Sheffield, U.K.
In August 2024, Marcegaglia tasked Primetals Technologies with a comprehensive modernization of the existing spout-type electric arc furnace (EAF) plant and its dedusting system. The order came after a recent study executed by Primetals Technologies, which was focused on optimizing measures for the meltshop aimed at increased productivity.

Melt Expert Record-Breaking Champion in Fine-Tuning and Boosting Electric Steelmaking Processes
Athletes who excel at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris all have certain characteristics in common – they are precise and effective, and they showcase world-leading skills in their respective discipline. Interestingly, all of these features can also be found in Primetals Technologies’ Melt Expert electrode control system for electric arc furnaces (EAFs) and ladle furnaces (LFs). Recently, Primetals Technologies celebrated its 100th Melt Expert installation at a customer’s site in Turkey.

Installation of Three Castrip Lines in One Year Allows Shagang Group to Produce Green Ultra-thin Strip
Ultra-compact and energy-effective Castrip plants were first installed in the U.S.A. and Mexico. In 2018, Shagang Group introduced Castrip technology to China at its plant in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu Province. Since then, Shagang Group has invested in three further Castrip lines. These new lines were implemented in just 12 months, with the latest becoming operational in June 2024.

TYASA and Primetals Technologies Celebrate 10-year Milestone for Cost-Effective EAF Quantum
Mexican steel producer TYASA and Primetals Technologies have recently reached a milestone for the world’s first EAF Quantum plant. On May 7, 2024, the energy-efficient 100-ton electric arc furnace had been in operation for 10 years. No less than 15 EAF Quantum furnaces is in operation worldwide, with more currently being constructed.

Effective April 1, 2024, Primetals Technologies Japan relocates its green steel office from Hiroshima to Tokyo. As part of a strategic move to strengthen the presence in Tokyo, Primetals Technologies also opens an engineering office in the capital.
