Jindal Stainless Ltd. issued the final acceptance certificate for the new level-2-process automation on AOD converter #1 to Primetals Technologies in April 2019. The AOD converter was equipped with a level-1-system and brought into operation by a third party in 2010. Jindal Stainless Ltd. subsequently developed its own solution to optimize the implemented level-2-system. This has now been replaced by a new, comprehensive level-2-system from Primetals Technologies that includes a dynamic process model.

Primetals Technologies will supply BaoWu Aluminium Technology Ltd., (BaoWu)  a combined aluminum hot rolling mill for the production of heavy plate and strip. Part of BaoWu Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd, the highest profile steel producer in China this is the first major investment by BaoWu, following their acquisition of Henan Tongren Aluminium Industry Co. Ltd. and is a clear demonstration of their commitment to the aluminum sector. The new rolling mill will be built in Sanmenxia, in the Henan province, and have an annual production capacity of 300,000 metric tons.

In January, Baosteel Zhanjiang, a subsidiary company of the Chinese corporation Baoshan Iron and Steel Co Ltd. (Baosteel) placed an order for a continuous slab caster with Primetals Technologies. The caster, CCM 3, will be set up in the Baosteel production site in Guangdong Province in South China, where Baosteel Zhanjiang already operates two slab casters supplied by Primetals Technologies since late 2015. CCM 3 has an annual capacity of 2.8 million metric tons of high-quality, high-strength steel grades.

Chinese steel producer Jiangsu Shagang Group Company Limited (Jiangsu Shagang) placed an order with Primetals Technologies to install automatic tapping system on two BOF converters in its converter steelworks in Zhangjiagang in Jiangsu Province. This modernization project marks the first commercial implementation of Primetals Technologies´ Automated Tapping system in a steelworks. The package will reduce tapping time and minimize slag carry-over, improving subsequent phosphorous refining.

Recently, Mexican steel producer Altos Hornos de Mexico, S.A.B. de C.V. (AHMSA) issued the Final Acceptance Certificate (FAC) for a twin RH vacuum degassing plant supplied by Primetals Technologies. The 150-ton RH plant was installed in AHMSA´s converter Steel Works # 2 in Monclova. It is able to handle 50 charges per day, the equivalent of about two million metric tons of liquid steel per year.
