The world’s first subscription-based process optimization solution for continuous casters granted final acceptance
Recently, the first three subscription-based process optimization systems (Level 2) for continuous casters supplied by Primetals Technologies received final acceptance certificates (FAC). One of the systems is used in Germany, the other two in the U.S.A. This innovation makes it possible for steel producers to use an OPEX-based license model when installing a new automation system, instead of having to plan for capital expenditure (CAPEX) investments.

Primetals Technologies launches new task force to lead transition to green steel
In April, Primetals Technologies appointed Dr. Alexander Fleischanderl as the Head of Green Steel. The main goal of the task force is to position the company as the frontrunner in green steel production solutions.
“I’m proud of being promoted to this position and I strongly believe that, together with the task force team, this effort will become a game-changer,” says Fleischanderl.

Tosyali Holding orders second slab caster from Primetals Technologies
Turkish-based Tosyali Holding recently ordered a new slab caster from Primetals Technologies. Tosyali is aiming to expand in the Algerian market by implementing the slab caster together with a new hot-strip mill at its site in Bethioua, located in the north-western part of Algeria. Started in 2013, this steel plant employs 4,000 people. The company has a 70 percent share of the Algerian steel market.

Primetals Technologies receives final acceptance for revamping continuous pickling line at Okayama plant of Tokyo Steel
Primetals Technologies recently received the final acceptance certificate (FAC) for revamping the continuous pickling line for hot-rolled strip at the Okayama plant of Tokyo Steel Co., Ltd. The project included installation of a polypropylene iBox pickling tank with acid concentration control, and the addition of a 50-ton tension leveler type scale breaker. An energy-saving, high-efficiency pickling system, the iBox has been delivered to 23 integrated steel plants worldwide. The system installed at Tokyo Steel's Okayama plant achieves the same productivity at hot descaling and reduction in energy consumption with both integrated and EAF based steel plants.

Turkish metals producer Ege Çelìk to upgrade wire rod mill with Primetals Technologies
Metals producer Ege Çelìk Endüstrisi Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. has contracted with Primetals Technologies for upgrades to its wire rod mill in İzmir, Turkey. The addition of a new wire rod outlet will expand its valueadded product range for markets in Turkey and Europe, with greater capability for surface finish quality and dimensional tolerance in its wire rod products. Thermomechanical rolling will improve drawability while reducing overall heat treatment costs. Commissioning for the new wire rod outlet is expected in summer 2023.
