Primetals Technologies is offering operators of continuous caster plants the new SRD (Single-Roll DynaGap) segments, a solution that further improves the interior quality of slabs for steel grades that place high demands on the casting process.

In December 2017, the stainless-steel continuous slab caster modernized by Primetals Technologies was started up at Outokumpu’s production site in Tornio, Finland. The aims of the project were to increase the annual production capacity of slabs and to enable thicker slabs of austenitic grades to be cast at high speed.

In January, BGH Edelstahlwerke GmbH, a German steel producer, issued the final acceptance certificate for an electric arc furnace modernized by Primetals Technologies. The modernization project included optimization of furnace movements and conversion of the tapping system.

Chinese steel producer Henan Yaxin Steel Group Co., Ltd. (Henan Yaxin) has placed an order with Primetals Technologies for the supply of an Arvedi ESP (Endless Strip Production) line. The casting-rolling facility will be part of a new steelmaking facility currently under construction in Fuding City, Fujian province .
