Primetals Technologies to supply ArcelorMittal with two LD converters (BOFs)
ArcelorMittal recently placed an order with Primetals Technologies for two new LD converters (BOFs) at its steel plant in Dunkirk, located in the northern part of France. Primetals Technologies will replace one of the existing LD converters, which has reached the end of its lifetime. The other new LD converter will be held on stock in Dunkirk for later installation.

NLMK issues FACs for new BOF off-gas system supplied by Primetals Technologies
Primetals Technologies has received the final acceptance certificates (FACs) from NLMK Group in Lipetsk for the construction of off-gas systems at LD converters (BOFs) No. 2 and 3 at steel plant LD2. The project's targets were: reducing emissions at the steel plant to levels lower than European standards; improving the heat-recovery system to supply steam to the existing network; using the converter’s off-gas for further utilization; and increasing productivity.

HKM grants final acceptance for two new ladle treatment stands from Primetals Technologies
German steel producer Hüttenwerke Krupp Mannesmann GmbH (HKM) has granted Primetals Technologies final acceptance for two new ladle-treatment stands. The plants were built at the BOF steel plant at the Duisburg-Huckingen site. The heating stands are designed for 5.2 million metric tons of liquid steel per year in fully automated operation and are therefore well prepared for further digitalization. The use of copper-clad lids increases service life and ensures the quality of the produced steel. LiquiRob systems manage tasks such as temperature measurement and sampling which were carried out manually in the past, thus increasing operational safety. The installation of the new ladle-treatment stands reduces operating costs in the steel plant. In addition, the phosphorus content of the melts can be reduced and higher alloying percentages are now a possibility.
